This is a shawl I made very soon after I picked up knitting after a long hiatus. It’s primarily garter stitch, with yarn overs down the center and a pleat or ruffle around the bottom edge.

I love the color of this yarn, and the feel of it (it’s Stitch Nation Bamboo Ewe) but my construction and technique were not quite what they could have been. You can see the mistakes in the yarn overs, and my joins have come apart in two places. So it looks a bit pitiful on close inspection, which is shame because it’s warm and squishy. I still use it for those reasons, but it’s not something I’d wear outside my own house.

Would I make another Mara? I’m not sure. The pattern is easy, almost too easy, and allll thaaaaat garter stitch. It seems very daunting.
